Don't wipe them... S-Wipe them!
The best way to clean your S-Specs?
Don’t wipe them…S-Wipe them!
How many times have you wiped fingerprints and
smudges from your lenses with your shirt sleeve or a face tissue?
It's something most of us have done, yet most of
us don't realize how damaging this can be to the life of our
lenses and our ability to see through them clearly.
Spectacle lenses are precision products and need
to be cared for much the same way one would handle expensive
jewellery and crystal.
That’s why Stingy Specs provides you with special
care products for your eyewear.
Important among them is our S-Wipes that is made
from microfiber cloth. This revolutionary product is tough on gunk
and dust - yet soft and gentle on the lens.
Microfiber cloth was originally designed to meet
the needs of high tech electronics, where delicate surfaces needed
to be cleaned but not damaged by the wiping tool.
Materials such as tissues, textiles or
general clothing items are made of materials that are not as soft
as microfiber cloths, and can scratch your lenses. What’s more,
these materials are more likely to carry dust, grease or small
hard particles that could scratch delicate surfaces, like your
spectacle lenses.
What are
S-Wipes?
What are S-Wipes made of?
S-Wipes are made from microfiber. Microfibers are
1/100 the diameter of a human hair and 10 times finer than silk.
Which is what gives them that silk suede like feel. Each fiber is
wedge-shaped and woven into millions of mini hooks and loops which
are composed of polyester filaments and a core of nylon, making
the fibers oil-attracting and moisture-retentive.
How do they work?
Dried stains, dust,
grease, dirt and micro-particles are attracted to and absorbed by
the millions of individual hook and looped fibers in S-Wipes.
The chemistry of this is basically that gunk and
dust on your lenses carries a negative charge which is attracted
into the positively charged fibers of the microfiber, trapping
them inside the fibers. Therefore S-Wipes doesn't scratch the
surface of your lenses and leaves a sparkling clean finish.
The unique structure of S-Wipes microfiber means
it can be used on wet or dry lenses, either dampened by cool water
or special lens cleaner.
Important point to remember: Multi coated lenses
can be damaged by hot water.
The nylon core, shape and
amount of fibers, makes S-Wipes very absorbent, absorbing up to
seven times its weight in water. So with S-Wipes you can polish
and clean the lenses without cleanser products. And, if your
S-Swipes isn’t cleaning effectively, all you need to do is wash it
with mild detergent to get it back to being as good as new!
However, if your lenses are really smudgy and grimy, then we
recommend that you clean them in cool soapy water which will wash
away the grease, and dry them with your S-Wipes.
So why use our S-Specs Cleaner Spray?
Based on our experience in optical dispensing, we
want to make sure your S-Wipes lasts longer and won't require as
much washing.
To prevent clogging up your S-Wipes with grease
from really dirty glasses, you need to use S-Specs Cleaner Spray
with a tissue.
We know we told you how harmful tissues can be to
your lenses. However, tissues will not scratch lenses if used in
conjunction with S-Specs Cleaner Spray. Please do not use tissues
without the spray. Also, do not use moisturizer or fragrance
treated tissues as these will smear on your lenses.
S-SPECS Cleaner Spray doesn't contain
corrosive ingredients, yet dissolves grease, grime and make-up
build up on your lenses which would clog up the microfiber cloth
fibers more quickly.
How
do I clean my S-Wipes Microfibre Cloth?
We recommend that you wash S-Wipes cloth in warm
soapy water, which will open the hooks and loops in the fibers,
releasing trapped dirt and grease. Ensure you rinse the cloth
well.
Alternatively you can put it in the washing
machine but DO NOT USE fabric softeners of any kind as the
chemicals clog the microfibers, making them less effective.
We recommend that you DO NOT USE bleach, nappy or
sanitary treatment products as they will cause the fibers to
deteriorate, making them less effective.
Line dry your S-Wipe and do not iron it or you
will melt the fibers making it ineffective.
Store your S-Wipe in your spectacle case so that
it stays clean. Avoid putting it in your pocket or handbag - as
those collect lint and dust easily, which will be attracted to the
microfibers – and make it dirty before you use it!
